Shopping for that dream wedding cake?   Lakes Cakes is redefining the process, starting with a personal, detailed, consultation/cake tasting, and finishing with an owner always being present at delivery and set up.   This insures that your cake will be everything you envisioned it to be.  We use only the freshest and finest ingredients, have over 23 years of professional experience, and produce cakes that are without peer in the Metro area.  

Lakes Cakes realizes that a wedding cake is an important, essential, focal point of any wedding reception.  We price our cakes fairly and treat our clients with respect regardless of the size or scope of the wedding reception. The most important ingredient in all of our wedding cakes is getting them from us to you, exactly how you imagined! 

Some of our many specialties include:   Creating that smooth, fondant look with our special recipe European meringue style buttercream;   Simulating the bride’s dress pattern into the cake;   Creating decadent  wedding cheesecakes decorated to look just like a traditional wedding cake.     We can also adapt our cakes to those with special diet needs and/or restrictions,  including vegan, gluten free, dairy or egg free.

Lakes Cakes provides personal service, and beautiful cakes.

Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings? All of Lakes Cakes' tasting/consultations are private, comprehensive and very generous. There is no charge of course for this service.

What are your tasting hours? We schedule cake tastings Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. Weekend appointments are subject to availability.

Describe how you price your cakes (by slice, by cake, by tier, etc.): Wedding cake pricing is based on per slice and starts at $2.60 per serving.

Does the price include the top-tier of the cake? We design our cakes to serve the required amount even without using the top tier. We also provide the couple with a complimentary 1st Anniversary cake, so many couples choose either to serve up the top tier or take it home to enjoy the next day. Why save a cake for a year when you can have a nice fresh one at no charge?

Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles? The majority of our cakes are custom designed, although we can easily replicate any pre designed style.

List any special ingredients you use in your cakes: We make all cakes, fillings and icings from the freshest and finest ingredients available. We also use gourmet quality items such as Madagascar bourbon vanilla, 100% pure extracts and organic fruit when available. All of our cakes and desserts are preservative free.

What (if any) special dietary restrictions can you accomodate? Vegan, gluten-free, egg-free, dairy-free and sugar free.

On average, how far in advance of the wedding day do you prepare the cake? All of our cakes are baked, at the most, two days prior to the wedding. Assembly and decoration are done the morning of the wedding when time permits. During busy times, assembly may be done the day before. We take great pride in delivering the freshest cakes available and take all precautions to insure this.

On average, how many wedding cakes do you do for a weekend? Depending on the season, and logistic restraints, Lakes Cakes averages about 3 to 5 cakes per weekend.

Will you work with the bride's florist to garnish the cake? Of course. Most of our clients prefer Lakes Cakes to arrange the flowers on our cakes. We also can provide flowers at an additional fee.

What (if any) cake accessories do you rent out? Lakes Cakes rents a wide variety of stands and also fountains. We charge a refundable deposit that is returned to you in full, when the rented item is returned.

Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee? Delivery is based on the distance between the reception site and where Lakes Cakes is located in Commerce Twp MI. Detailed pricing is found on our website.

Do you have a store front?
Although Lakes Cakes is fully licensed by the State of Michigan, we have no store front, and operate by appointment only.

What are your edible wedding favor selections?
We offer custom designed sugar cookies,  caramel apples, and chocolates.

Do you sell other items besides cakes?
Lakes Cakes’ other offerings include:  Mini pastries, tortes, custom all occasion cakes, cupcakes, cookies, caramel apples, pies and more.
