How does your venue determine the cost of the space?
A variety of pricing options are available (Please see our website for "Special Savings"). The cost for Independence Harbor is based on a Rental fee for the exclusive use of the 20 Acre Estate, plus the cost of food and beverage purchases. Independence Harbor does require that all food and beverages be purchased through Independence Harbor (except wedding cakes). Outside caterers are prohibited.
Do you offer any special services?
Independence Harbor is one of Southern New England's Most Sought After Destinations for Garden Wedding Ceremonies. In addition to its acclaimed Wedding Receptions, "I.H." is a picture perfect site for your wedding ceremony. Ceremonies may be held at the gazebo on the South Lawn, or at the Great Stone Fireplace in the Main Dining/ Reception Room.
Independence Harbor does not rent its facilities for ceremonies alone. Ceremonies must be part of a Reception/ Ceremony package.

Do you offer additional items for the ceremony?
Independence Harbor's gazebo on the South Lawn as well as the Great Stone Fireplace in the Main Reception Room are extraordinary settings for a Private Wedding Ceremony. Independence Harbor provides the finest padded white ceremony seating, complete indoor and outdoor sound systems, ceremony music, ceremony rehearsal, an additional half hour ceremony time, and Wedding Director to coordinate your entire event.
Do you rent other items such as linens, tables, or flatware?
All linens, tables, chairs, dinnerware are included.
What is your staff-to-guest ratio?
Independence Harbor provides complete and experienced and formally attired bar and food service personnel for every event. Each event is assessed for its particular staffing requirements, and is more than adequately staffed.
Do you require clients to use a specific list of vendors?
No.
Do you require the client to use your musicians? If you do not require this, is that an additional fee to bring in one's own musicians?
Independence Harbor does not include musicians in its packages. We are happy to offer referrals for some of the area's finest musicians, yet you are not required to use our referrals.
Do you have any special side rooms that can be rented out for the occasion?
No.
Can the client provide their own alcohol if desired?
No.
How many power outlets does the venue have?
More than adequate.
What restrictions (if any) on decorations?
Independence Harbor is impeccably furnished and decorated.
Traditional wedding and banquet decorations (guest table centerpieces, seating card displays, family pictures etc) are welcome and expected at all events. Any decorations involving open flame are prohibited. Independence Harbor does provide complimentary clear glass hurricane lamps with clear glass candle holders, and ivory 10" taper candles for all guest tables unless an alternative centerpiece is provided. Unusual decorations must be approved by Independence Harbor.
What restrictions (if any) on photography?
The Independence Harbor Gardens as well as the Great Stone Fireplace, and the Bridal Lounge offer Photographers a wealth of photo opportunities. Photographers are asked to not walk in garden beds, or to sit or stand on stonewalls.

Same as photography.
What restrictions (if any) on music?
Independence Harbor does reserve the right to control volume. Proper dress is required.

Proper dress is always suggested and appreciated.
