Describe your DJ style:
I take what is considered a "tasteful" approach to weddings where I'm able to let my music mix be in the spotlight and then step in vocally to help guide the event along with announcements as requested by my clients.
What is your usual attire?
My attire will fit the occassion, but you'll usually see me in a classically styled black suit.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
Unless a song is out-of-print or from an obscure genre, I am typically able to assemble requested songs before the event.
How many other DJs do you work with?
I do not employ other DJs but have several DJ associates that I have worked with throughout the years.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Negotiable
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Absolutely!
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
No
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes!
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Yes! I have a secondary sound-system that can be used for wedding ceremonies and/or cocktail hours that are in a remote location from the actual reception at the event site.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
Set up takes place one hour in advance of the start time and a standard 6' table is required on site.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
No
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
I will when it's requested by the client.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
It's not required, but certainly appreciated.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
N/A
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes
What is your overtime rate?
Same as my normal rate and can be prorated as necessary.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Depending on the situation, I may have to calculate travel charges when the event is outside of the Washington, DC/Baltimore region.
Other Information
What types of cultural events do you specialize in?
North American
Additional Answers & Advice:
Allow your guests access to the DJ to easily make requests. A stage may seem to be the best place for a DJ, but often times guests are afraid to make the trip up to get in a request. Put the bar and the DJ in the same vicinity--this keeps your guests near the action! Keep announcements short and concise--get back to the dancing as quickly as possible! "Always leave them wanting more." It’s best to end a party on an upbeat note instead of letting it drag on for an additional hour with just a few die-hards in attendance. |
