About Us

Historic Rosemont Manor epitomizes gracious southern hospitality.

A fine old Virginia mansion set on a knoll facing east over the Shenandoah Valley, Rosemont has been a landmark in the Northern Virginia area since its original construction in 1811 and a haven for the Washington elite when purchased in the late 1920s by the late Virginia Governor and U.S. Senator Harry F. Byrd, Sr.  Presidents Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon were all entertained here, as well as many well-known celebrities and historical figures.

Now after 200 years and a painstaking 13-year restoration, Rosemont opened her gates in September 2010 to the public as Northern Virginia's premier wedding venue.  Today the professional staff invites you to be one of our newest First Ladies of Rosemont.

From the moment you pass through the wrought-iron entrance gates, Rosemont weaves her magical spell. The drive leading to the manor winds gracefully through a grove of huge oaks and poplars, interspersed with flowering azaleas, dogwoods, and roses. When the manor house finally comes into view, it is a breathtaking sight. Gracefully proportioned and lovingly maintained, Rosemont beckons to you as it did to those who came before.

If you are looking for a wedding venue that is rich in both beautiful elegance and historic charm, you won't find a more perfect location than Rosemont. With a total of 11 intimate, well-appointed suites and guest rooms available in the main manor house, Rosemont can easily accommodate your wedding party . In addition, with the various cottages on the estate grounds, Rosemont can now accommodate up to 75 overnight guests.

For Your Ceremony...

There are several outdoor sites on the 60-acre grounds to choose from for your ceremony location.   You might decide on the East Lawn with its stone stairway, or the South Lawn with its picturesque fountain.  Or maybe you'd prefer the West Lawn with its charming gazebo or even a quaint spot beneath one of our nationally prized trees.  You can even say your "I Do's" on the lush expanse of lawn where nearly fifty years ago JFK's Presidential helicopter regularly landed.  Whatever you have pictured in your mind for those unforgettable moments when you exchange your vows, Rosemont has the perfect location for you.

For Your Reception...

Our grand covered portico with its columned façade and fabulous views of our gorgeous, statuesque award-winning trees, is perfect for your rehearsal dinner or cocktail hour and can easily seat up to 100 guests for an outdoor reception.  You may also consider our newly renovated Carriage House (with handicapped-accessible bathrooms, newly installed air conditioning, bar, and dance floor), which is capable of seating 160-185 people comfortably.  If you want to  "go all out" for your wedding, a tent placed on our manicured grounds, combined with our indoor event space, allows you to expand your guest list to over 500 people.

Be one of the first to experience the grand opening of Historic Rosemont Manor. Only 45 minutes from Washington-Dulles airport, Rosemont can be yours for a fabulous wedding weekend or a memorable Sunday ceremony and reception. No matter which of the First Lady wedding packages you select, rest assured that we will treat you like the important guest you are, just like the First Ladies of the U.S. Presidents who have strolled our park-like grounds in the past.  Call (540-955-2834) or  email (weddings@rosemont1811.com) today to schedule a visit and experience for yourself the captivating charm of Rosemont.

Ceremony & Reception Venue

AMAZING!!! We had our reception here at the end of January - a very tricky time of year - and it was absolutely perfect. I had always admired the beauty of Rosemont when it was used as a home for Washington, D.C. elite so when I found out they were renovating it into a wedding venue/B&B we HAD to have our reception there. As it turned out we were the first "couple" to use the venue after the renovation. The home is 200 years old and has all the charming characteristics that go along with historic buildings but has all the upgrades of today.

It was really important to us to find a balance between something elegant & classy, yet relaxed and Rosemont was every bit of that. It felt very regal because of the beautiful woodwork, intricate home decor, & colonial colors yet homey because our family & bridal party could run upstairs to their respective rooms to change, rest, or freshen up. The staff were amazing to work with as well. The owner & manager were easily accessible and very reasonable. I had several special requests & they were able to work with me on basically everything. The catering they used was phenomenal. We had a strolling reception because we had so many guests and everyone complimented us on the delicious & elegant food. The innkeeper, Andrew, was a doll & cooked everyone a wonderful breakfast the next day. We hired the wedding planner that works with Rosemont, Debora Haughton, and she took care of EVERYTHING that day & night so I did not have to worry about a thing. I honestly cannot say enough good about my experience at Rosemont. We told them our budget and they were able to figure out away to give us our fairly tale reception. If I had to do it again - I wouldn't change a thing.
Historic Rosemont Manor responded with the following comments:
We can't thank you enough, Melissa, not only for this great review, but also for being our very first official "First Lady" of Rosemont! We so appreciated your trust and rapport right from the beginning, and it was just wonderful the way your special day all came together. Your beautiful winter wedding is proof positive that Rosemont truly is a 4-season wedding venue. And how awesome was that beautiful snow? It was the perfect backdrop for an already lovely reception! Thank you again for your kind words and be sure to come see us soon!
