Describe your DJ style:
The concept of our style & company is to bridge the best attributes of the Club DJ & the Mobile DJ. We bring the savvy style & aesthetics of a Club DJ (without the attitude or flake factor) and match it with the professionalism and etiquette of a Mobile DJ. (Without the cheesy factor) We have a chameleon-like ability to adapt to just about any situation and create the perfect vibe!

What is your usual attire?
Depends on the style of the event. Usually black on black, business attire or "LA CHIC"

If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
There are very few songs we don't have or can't find but if this becomes an issue we are always happy to integrate any music provided by the client into our set.

How many other DJs do you work with?
We have about 6-8 very talented DJs on our team. We prefer to stay small and focus on quality over quantity when it comes to weddings and events.

What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
2 Hours

Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Yes! In fact we prefer it. We believe chemistry is important between you and your vendors. It allows you to relax on the day of the event and usually translates to a much more smooth performance for us too.

Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes

What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We have a variety of lighting and effects availible as well as additional entertainment options

How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We always arrive at least 1-2 hours prior to the event start time to setup and soundcheck. We usually only require a 6 foot table.

Do you have any extra space requirements?
No

Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Yes but only when needed. We believe less is more when it comes to microphone presence. If we are reading the room properly and programing our music accordingly then the energy will be right and there is little need for extra mic chatter beyoned the traditional elements of the wedding. (Grand Ent, Toast, Cake Cutting etc....)

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Always nice to have but not needed.

Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
N/A

What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes we always have replacement Djs and equipment should a circumstance arise that is out of our control.

What is your overtime rate?
$200 per hour

Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Depends on location

Additional Questions and Answers

What is included in your package?
Don’t wait until the big event to realize that you didn’t purchase enough sound, lighting or other effects you may have assumed were included. Don’t feel intimidated if you aren’t familiar with brand names or model numbers. Ask the DJ to walk through and explain what’s included and what each piece of equipment is for. Ask to see a photo of what the equipment setup will look like if you are still unclear.
Will the DJ be willing to play requests and discuss music prior to the event?
Our pricing always includes an initial consultation with your potential DJ and a follow up meeting one week prior to your event to make sure we have everything catered to your taste. In fact we encourage clients to give as much input as they are comfortable with in pre-selecting music for the cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing.

***Regardless of how much pre-planning is done with music, our DJs will always respond to your guest request in a courteous manner and accommodate them whenever possible unless otherwise instructed.

Are you INSURED?
Most responsible business owners carry insurance to protect themselves and their clients.
Many venues are now asking for the vendors to provide proof of Liability
We are fully covered.
Will the DJ provide a contract for the event?

Hiring a DJ is a business transation and should be handled in a professional mannor.
We provide a contract to insure peace of mind for all parties involved.

Is the DJ willing to do a site survey of the party space prior to the event?

The DJ should know in advance where he/she is going to set up shop.
We personally like to know in advance the route and drive time to the event as well as venue layout
to avoid any surprises.

Tips and Advice
When you think about the wedding, where your money goes and which aspects have the most impact on the guests (and your) experience over a 4-5 hour time frame.
The flowers look nice as people walk in, the food is great during the hour of dinner but the entertainment is the one of the driving forces from start to finish.

The shift in technology  (CDs, MP3, Laptop DJs etc…) over the last few years has FLOODED the market with DJs that went out and bought gear and downloaded music but don't necessarily understand the fundamentals of how to creative the right environment for a wedding. (Many of them are bedroom DJs or nightclub DJs looking for work to help gain experience which is why they will work for so cheap)

There is so much more to the art of reading a room of people and programming the appropriate vibe than people realize. Many DJs have the gear and have the music but just run down the same set at each event whether they have connected with the crowd or not.

I highly recommend you screen the candidates well to make sure you don't end up with a bad situation. I hear way too many stories of inexperienced or unprofessional DJs ruining a wedding and one of  the most common compliaint is that the client takes time to make request lists and the DJ says "Yes, Yes, Yes" but then ignores the list on the day of the event. . Do some google searches and you will see what I mean.

Always ask to meet your potential DJ in person or see if they are playing someplace that you can audit their set live.
A meet/greet will demonstrate the DJs ability to show up on time and also give a sense fo their commitment to earning your business.

Good luck!
