Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I enjoy appling many special techniques to your photos; black and white, sepia, spot colors, blurring, etc. I will go ahead and do so while I am processing your photos to those pictures I feel can be edited in this way. If you have a request for an edit please let me know and I will accomodate you as best I can.
 
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
During a wedding many lighting situations will occur. I have had experience with candlelit ceremonies, low light during preparation times, varied bright color lighting at the receptions, overcast skies for portraits, soft and romantic skies or lighting for portraits.
 
Is your media preference film or digital?
I am currently using a Nikon D80 with several lenses and have a Nikon D40 as a back-up camera. I also will use multiple film cameras to play with and experiment in techniques or use during your event if this is your preference.
 
How many photographers do you work with?
I will be taking your photographs and occasionally have an assistant with me to help make your event perfect.
 
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes, I do. However if an unfortunate circumstance arises I will substitute a qualified photographer.
 
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Nope! I only schedule one event per weekend so that i may give you my full attention without distraction.
 
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes. I also an assistant available for additional coverage.
 
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
I bring my cameras, lenses, flashes, batteries, data cards, step ladder, emergency kit, all of the paperwork from our communications and forms in a book, and other tools that we have discussed are necessary to make your day complete.
 
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes, I a Nikon D40 as a back-up camera. I also have numerous film cameras.
 
Do you charge hourly or full day?
My current hourly rate is $200 per hour and I do have full day, 3/4 day and 1/2 day packages available.
 
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
Yes, I am available for overtime hours. That fee is $20 per quarter hour.
 
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
The only breaks I take are the occasionally bathroom break but I do not usually need these unless it's more than ten hours and I take them at a convenient times where photo opportunities won't be missed.
 
Do you charge for travel?
There is an additional fee for travel outside of a 100 mile radius of my office.
 
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Your pictures are usually ready within a two week period depending on the service and number of photos taken. I do upload the photos to a secure gallery for you to view them and share with family and friends. You may also order a variety of prints and other products from the gallery and have them delivered directly to you. In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Your photos are uploaded to a website usually within two week period.
 
How long can the client keep the proofs?
The website where the photos are uploaded is available for one year. If you require a proof book this will be available for an additional fee and will need to be returned within a 6 month period or purchased.
 
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I do keep the copyright but the discs that contain your photos come with a release letter so that you are able to make prints.
 
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
I do for the first six months after the event then I release the right and document it in a letter that is sent with your discs.
 
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes along with a release letter.
 
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes they will be available for one year.
 
What kind of albums do you offer?
I offer a variety of albums including magazine or coffee table styles, flush mount albums, memory albums, guest book styles, etc.
 
When will the client get the final album?
Once the fee has been paid and the book is crafted I will deliver it to you.
