About
It’s not about me.

When you’re sitting together in 30 years looking at your wedding album, you won’t be thinking about how cool or stylish your wedding photographer was. The first thing that comes to your mind won’t be his dynamic lighting style or fancy Photoshop effects. Your photos are going to be treasured documents of family history, revitalizing memory in some and illustrating the past for others. I believe in using style to facilitate the content of the photos: my art serves your moments.

I spend much of my spare time studying the classics of documentary photojournalism, fashion photography, and portraiture. I believe in drawing influence from work that already has an established track record for timelessness. My favorite photographers include Richard Avedon, David Seidner, Edward Steichen, André Kertesz, Rene Burri, and Robert Frank among others.

I started my business in 2007, after finishing a successful enlistment as a Green Beret in the the Army’s 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). We are a veteran-owned business, and I maintain a thriving commercial practice in addition to shooting weddings. While in the service, I was fortunate to find a beautiful, brilliant, talented, and exciting woman with horrible taste in men. I was wise enough to marry her. She is an important part of my business through her design sense, eye for details, and penchant for organization. We live together in South Nashville with two cats who are tired of being the test subjects for every new camera, lens, and strobe.

Although I am only acquainted with Evan and his work via online, I am always impressed with his respect and candor he brings to each assignment, and the quality of imagery and creativity. He is consistently producing stunning and amazing work which in turns inspires the wheels in my head. I wish I could one day have him come and photograph me and my wife, because he is that good! His ideas are endless and his work shows the mark of a true professional.
We highly recommend Evan Baines to any bride who is looking for a photographer who is easy to get along with, and not only takes AMAZING photos, but puts care and special attention into each image... we could go on and on, but you’ll just have to find out how amazing he is yourself.
Evan is a photographer's photographer and I could probably learn from him on a daily basis. Though he furiously studies his art, he still makes time and effort to keep his clients ecstatic. His images capture nuances and emotions that demand repeated viewing. Evan does not let the details out of his sight and will deliver to you a fantastic product.
