What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Contemporary, Photojournalism, Portraiture
What do your packages include?
Albums, Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, Flush Mount, High Resolution Images, Matted Prints, Negatives, Prints, Proof CD of All Images, Thank You Cards, Video Montage
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
We do it all! But we keep it tasteful (no cheese please!). We include complimentary hand-retouching, from doing away with the disastrous day-of pimple, to creating edgy art-prints. Art-prints can be in high-contrast color, sepia, or black & white. Visit our website or office for more examples.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
We have worked in every type of lighting situation imaginable (part of being a tried & true photojournalist). We prefer natural light, including candlelight, but we're expert event photographers and work to make any situation look gorgeous. We also go the extra mile to be experimental with light. Creativity is key for us.
Is your media preference film or digital?
We are all digital, and there are several benefits. It allows us to maintain an eco-friendly business without the use of harmful processing chemicals, and endless waste. Digital has also long since surpassed film in image quality.... (sorry! I know "filmies" don't like to hear that.... We love film too!) It's also an extremely versatile medium.
How many photographers do you work with?
We are husband & wife owned. We have an excellent Associate Photographer, as well as a Junior Associate and several Assistants. For your wedding, there will be either 1 or 2 photographers. We want to be unobtrusive, and also provide you with what you need for your unique occasion.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
We guarantee your contracted photographer on the day of the event. In the event something happens to your photographer (God forbid... and it's NEVER happened), we'll provide you with a replacement photographer. If one cannot be provided for you, you get a full refund.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
NEVER. OUR WORLD STOPS FOR YOUR DAY!!
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes. Again... has never happened... WILL NEVER happen!! (Knock on wood!!!)
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Photography equipment of course! Ha. At least 2 camera bodies, a variety of lenses, at least 2 flashes, a battery pack, back up batteries, tripod, large light w/ light stand, several gigs of CF cards... & lots of other stuff!! We are always well prepared in any situation.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
ALWAYS. Your wedding is the most important day of OUR lives!
Do you charge hourly or full day?
Every quote is a custom quote, based on your specific needs. We prefer to sit down with you, or have a conversation with you to assess what kind of coverage you need, as well as anything else.... albums, etc. Ultimately, we want to work with you to create a package based on your expectations and needs. After all, if you're not happy, who cares what it cost? Your photos are forever!
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
We are available for overtime (which can be expensive!). That's why we like to sit down with you in advance, to figure out what you need, and come up with a price up front.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
We usually only take one break when the guests are fed.
Do you charge for travel?
Not usually. Again, please contact us for details on your day, and we'll come up with a solid quote for you.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Photos are posted to the website approximately 4 to 6 weeks after our wedding day. Your negatives are delivered shortly thereafter.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
You first see your images on your password-protected website. Then you receive the high-res proofs on disk.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
Your proofs are posted on the website for 3 months. You own the negatives forever!
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
We do retain the copyright, but the bride & groom own their photos and can use them in just about any way they wish. If you have specific questions, it's usually good to ask, but we have a pretty liberal policy in terms of what we permit our clients to do.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
We do reserve the right to publish the photos, unless otherwise agreed to at the time of contract. We'll of course try let you know if your photos have been published anywhere.
Usually we try to get a sneak-peak up on the blog within a week of your wedding!!
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yep! Negatives are part of the basic package.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yep! Proofs are posted to the website for 3 months as part of the basic package.
What kind of albums do you offer?
We offer super-fun coffee table books, as well as heirloom Queensberry & Company custom albums in classic matted or modern digital flush-mount formats.
When will the client get the final album?
Coffee table books are pretty fast on the turn -- about 1 month. The price mainly covers the design fee.
Our Queensberry albums however take a long time. We are very up front with our clients about this. The timing is mainly because every album is custom designed by me, and custom manufactured in New Zealand.
We really emphasize quality of the images, the layout design, and overall customization to your style. After all, your album should last several lifetimes -- we want it to be special, and we want it to reflect you!
Every album is a unique book, from the layout to the mats, covering and cover motif. We can do everything conveniently online. We keep you updated on the progress, and ship it immediately after it comes in.
If fast is what you're looking for, we might not be the photography studio for you. But if you're looking for an amazing, thoughtful album to pass down through generations of your family, then we're your team!
