Eric is the man! If you want to have the dance floor bumping he will get the job DONE! Most importantly for me as a videographer/photographer he understands the production machinations. Working with DJ snow is ALWAYS a pleasure because I know he won't let something happen without the key players being notified. What does that mean for you? Your photographer, videographer and coordinator all on the same page before a bouquet toss, toast, first dance etc. happen so that it makes the record:) This man is the consummate professional and I truly enjoy working with Snow. If a DJ is in your future look no further! Give him a call and he'll handle the rest.
I first met DJ Snow when I hired him to DJ my own wedding. I was blown away by his professionalism from day one - this guy does not have "island time" in his vocabulary! He does a great job "reading" the crowd and getting everyone out on the dance floor. He is busy though, book him early!!
DJ At Large is the best choice in choosing a wedding entertainer vendor for your Virgin Islands Wedding. This Dj has a great personality and a vast selection of tunes from all genres that will keep your reception rocking all night long!
Frequently Asked Questions
Describe your DJ style: Here goes--The latest Top 40, Reggae, Retro, Hip Hop, Dance, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Indian, Country, Funk, 80's, Oldies, 50s, 60s, 40s, Soca, Calypso, Blues, Classic Rock, Big Band, Pop, Old School, Flaminco, Lounge, Dance Hall, Easy Listening, World Beat...whatever you wish. You name it!
How many other DJs do you work with? I have three guys on island I refer back and forth with--mostly to cover club gigs. I don't trade off on weddings.
Do you have replacement DJs in case you become unavailable on the wedding day? Yes, although it would be a MAJOR illness if I needed them for that. I like to be the one doing my own events.
Do you specialize in any ethnic and/or international events? Absolutely. It's one of my strongest points.
Is the bride able to meet the DJ before booking? Absolutely.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the couple, do you require that they provide it? I can source almost anything, however, if it's extremely rare and the bride has it, it makes my life easier--but if she doesn't have it, I set out to find it.
What is your usual attire? Tropical Resort Casual is the norm on St Thomas--dress shoes, dress slacks and a nice tropical dress shirt--but I can go full on formal if someone wants that.
Do you bring your own equipment? Everything is included. Speakers, mixer, music, digital music player, professional CD player, 1 corded mic with stand, 1 wireless mic...the works. You need not worry about anything. It's all there. I even have an audio out port for your videographer so the sound is crystal clear and full stereo for your videos.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service? I do have a small light pack I can bring if requested. It's not obstrusive, but it does require quite a bit of extra work, so there is a small fee involved, unless someone books a long amount of time and sometimes I'll comp it in those cases.
What is your minimum amount of time you will DJ for? A 3 Hour Minimum is required on Fridays and Saturdays, weekdays I can chop it down to two hours depending on availablity. I recommend 3 hours if you are eating, cutting cake, doing toasts and want to have what feels like enough dance time.
Do you usually emcee the reception and/or talk between songs? Yes.
Do you take any breaks? No.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks? If needed, yes.
Do you require a meal break? If yes, do you require that the wedding party provide your meal? I usually eat before the event.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site and/or couple provide a table for you to setup on? I have tables and covers which match almost any motif, but if the venue wants to skirt everything to match, that's fine too!
Do you have any extra space requirements? Any space that is at least 8 feet long, 4 feet in width. In the event the party is outside, some sort of cover or overhang is requested.
What is your overtime rate? I don't have one, if anything, it gets cheaper the longer you go!
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge? St Thomas requires no travel charge. St John requires a car ferry pass ($50) and an overnight hotel stay which is $200. I charge $250 for St John in addition to the normal fee, and it's something that all goes to expenses. I make no profit on that portion.
