Tips and Advice
Make every effort to meet your DJ in person before booking them.
Check References.
Check with the Better Business Bureau.
Confirm Experience.
A experienced and talented Disc Jockey will absolutely "make or break" your evening, so it is imperative that you do your research, ask questions and meet with your prospective DJs before you sign the contract. After you determine who you think you like based upon their credentials and your meeting - - - then talk about price. You should expect to pay anywhere from 5% to 20% of your total budget on entertainment, depending upon how important the entertainment is to you.
Sample Questions: "Describe how you would start the dancing?", "Describe how you would craft an evening of entertainment", "How do you do the Grand Introductions?", "How long have you been a DJ?", "How many weddings have you done?", "Will you respect my 'do not play' list?", "Why are you a wedding DJ - How did you start out in the field?", "What training do you have that makes you qualified?", "What do you think makes a great party and how can you make that happen?" and "What makes you so special - - why should I choose you to be my wedding DJ?"
