Photography tips for a stress free Wedding Day
• Don't underestimate the amount of time needed to do everything on your wedding day. Sticking to a well thought out timeline will make your day run a lot smoother and cause you a lot less stress. Your images will look so much better if you're not stressed!
• Make sure your flowers will be delivered early enough for the photos. You might want to call your florist and Limo Company, to make sure everything is set and they have not misplaced the paperwork.
• Tell your bridesmaids to arrive at the getting ready location a little earlier than necessary in case any of them tend to run late or something goes wrong.
• If you are planning on having a hair stylist or makeup artist at the getting ready location please make sure that they know that all of the bridal party’s hair and makeup must be completed prior to your photographers arrival. This will ensure that everyone is ready when the photo session is scheduled to begin. You may also want to ask your stylists to dress nicely since they will be included in some of your photos.
• When planning your wedding day, remember that things in general will always take longer than you anticipate. If you're thinking of getting formal pictures between the ceremony and reception, 1/2 hour is not enough! The larger your wedding party is, the more difficult it is to get everyone together, keep everyone together, and pose for the various formal shots that will be taken. Depending on the size of the party and whether your reception is at a different site than your ceremony, you may wish to plan on at least 1 or even 2 hours between the end of the ceremony and the beginning of your cocktail hour.
• If you plan on having a receiving line at the church after the ceremony plan on it consuming between 30 to 45 minutes (it takes about 10 seconds to greet each guest, that’s only 6 guests per minute…you get the idea.)
• Ensure that you have your limousine scheduled until at least the beginning of your cocktail hour; this will allow you to take full advantage of the time you have allotted for your formal pictures.
• Make sure you have thought about where to have your photos done especially if it rains; have a backup plan and make sure that space is available.
• Trying to round everyone up for group shots can be the most challenging part of wedding photography. Keep in mind that your photographer doesn’t know who your family members are, making it impossible for them to know who you want photographed. You may want to create a photography timeline and review it with everyone on rehearsal night. Everyone will then know when and where to go for group photographs
• If you are going to have a ceremony outdoors please plan it away from the harsh sun. Shaded areas and afternoon sunlight are best.
• Have fun! You will be looking back at your photos for years to come! Be spunky, outrageous and outwardly emotional. Allow your photographer to capture those emotions, you WILL treasure them!
