About

The best way that I can describe my style is wedding photojournalism with an edge, blending spontaneous moments with creative & modern portraiture. I am also an artist. And I strive to create art that can stand alone and provoke thought. Each wedding is unique and your photos should be a reflection of the two of you and your undying love for each other.

My love is in God first, my husband and four kids are first and a half, and then photography. I truly believe that I was put on this earth to capture life, love, and happiness through my eyes and couldn't ask for a better calling in my life.

I strive to live my life for God, and I conduct my business in the same way. At least 10% of profits will be donated to my church which supports God’s will in spreading His word and His love to those who are spiritually, physically, and financially in need.

If this is a vision that we share, let’s talk!

-Caroline

My Favorite Quotes:

"A portrait is not a likeness. The moment an emotion or fact is transformed into a photograph it is no longer a fact but an opinion. There is no such thing as inaccuracy in a photograph. All photographs are accurate. None of them is the truth." ~Richard Avedon

"The mind loves the unknown. It loves images whose meaning is unknown, since the meaning of the mind itself is unknown.” ~Rene Magritte

Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
It is my personal opinion that hand-coloring looks unnatural and also dates your photos. I won't ever choose to hand-color an image unless requested for an image or two by the bride and groom. I LOVE bright colors, black & whites, and subtle vintage tones.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
Yes! I am not afraid of any kind of lighting situation that is thrown at me.

Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital, baby.

How many photographers do you work with?
Just me! I have an assistant, usually my husband, who comes with me to all shoots and helps with equipment, lighting, and other miscellaneous tasks so that I can focus on what I love best. The photography.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Yes. If, God forbid, something were to happen on or before the wedding day where it is a physical impossibility for me to be there, I have a few professional photographer friends that I can call and ask to replace me.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Only one wedding per day. I may book more than one wedding per weekend, but usually I try to keep it at one per weekend since I need time to physically recover and to back up files.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Camera, lenses, flash, manuals, reflector disc, & memory cards.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
All of my wedding packages include unlimited wedding day coverage.

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
I don't take "official breaks". I am always ready to shoot. During dinner, my camera will always be near me in case I need to shoot spontaneous happenings.

Do you charge for travel?
All of my packages include free travel for weddings within 150 miles of Charlotte. Anything over 150 miles requires airfare or gas, hotel & car rentals (if applicable). Airfare will need to be bought for two, my assistant and I.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
A sneak peek of my favorites will be blogged within the week as a taste of what's to come when the rest of the images will be posted in an online password-protected gallery within 8-12 weeks.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
Online via a password-protected site.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
Yes. The bride and groom will be allowed to print the photos up to any size at any lab of their choice. They have the right to use the photos for personal purposes. No commercial use.

Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
Yes.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Yes. EVERY wedding package I offer includes a CD containing the edited wedding day images and will also receive a reproduction release signed by myself. (The Engagement session that is included in every package includes a 16x20 from that session with the option to purchase that CD for $500.)

Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes. They will be in a password-protected online gallery for 3 months.

What kind of albums do you offer?
High Quality flush mount coffee table book albums in either a square, landscape or portrait orientation. I use an amazing eco-friendly album company and their craftsmanship is top notch.

When will the client get the final album?
Usually about 4-6 months after the wedding day, as long as emails are being answered by the bride/groom in a timely manner.

Tips and Advice
Choosing the Wedding Day Locations: The location is so important in getting great wedding photos. Please keep in mind how everything will look in pictures, from the bride's dressing room, to the ceremony, to the reception.

Lighting: Try to be mindful of lighting when choosing your locations throughout the day. For example, where the bride is getting ready. Lots of natural lighting such as window light, will achieve great results whereas a conference roof with fluorescent lighting is highly unflattering.

Picture Time: If you saw my gallery and liked my work, please know that you can only achieve that in your own wedding if you allow enough time for photography during the day. 20 minutes after the ceremony & before the reception for family and bridal party photos, and creative bride & groom portraits just will not cut it. Set aside time for just the two of you during cocktail hour. Even better, opt to see each other before the ceremony and set aside between 1-2 hours. We'll still take "first look" photos, and you won't feel rushed to get to your reception during this time. Plus, once the ceremony is over, you can focus on just pictures with the family & you'll feel more relaxed the rest of the day knowing that you are done with the most important shots. Most of my brides & grooms choose to see each other before their ceremonies.
