Bridal Secrets opened in the Fall of 2006 in the heart of La Plata, Maryland. Lynn Kilinski (Owner) had envisioned a bridal store that had heart. After owning one of La Plata's most prominent hair salons and styling brides hair for over 20 years, she decided it was time.

All the brides Lynn talked to were pretty much satisfied with the gowns they got, but hated the process of shopping for them. They all said the same thing... the gowns were getting seriously over-priced (over $5,000!) or seriously cheap in price and quality, the one-on-one customer service was terrible or non-existent, you always had to make an appointment, thousands of gowns all in plastic bags so you can't see any of them and you could never look at each and every one, the accessories like the veils and tiaras cost almost as much as the gowns and if you do find a gown or two that you like, don't even think about having a family member or a friend take a picture of you in the gown!!!

Lynn knew what she had to do. She opened Bridal Secrets.

 Lynn is great to work with, and she has a beautiful selection of gowns. She works very diligently with her clients to make sure they select a dress that suits their taste and body type. Lynn also does hair with Illussions Salon in La Plata, and is very meticulous about her work. Her brides/bridesmaids and mothers always looks beautiful.

Frequently Asked Questions for Dress & Attire
Does a client need to schedule an appointment? How do the client appointments work?
No. You never NEED an appointment to come look around and even try on. If you want to come in on a Saturday, and bring your bridal party to all try on dresses, then it is suggested, but you never have to. Of course when you do make an appointment, you will be top priority! And we don't do just 1 hour appointments, we do 2 hour appointments to take off some of that added stress of having to hurry up... and you can always stay as long as you like!
 
What wedding dress brands do you carry at your boutique?
We carry Jasmine Bridal, Private Label by G, Jordan Bridals, Ella Rosa and we will be getting in soon Eden Bridals!
 
What is the typical turn-around time for a dress?
You can always take a dress off the rack today if it is exactly what you are looking for and you don't have a lot of time, but most brides just order a new gown. When you order, you are looking at about 14-16 weeks while they make your dress for you. That is including any customizing that you requested. You also have the option to rush your gown in at about 8 weeks for only $40 extra!
 
How often do you receive new dresses?
We get new gowns in about every 4 months and when we do, we have big sales on our older gowns to make room for the new!
 
Do you have a seamstress onsite?
No. We do not have a seamstress onsite, but we do have one only about 5 minutes away from us. The reason we don't have her onsite is because you will spend a lot more money at an "onsite" alterations store because you are paying for the seamstress doing her work and you are paying the store for keeping her onsite. So that is why we have Karen work out of her house. She is local, affordable and does amazing work!
 
In addition to wedding dresses, what other products do you sell?
We have everything! Bridemaids, mothers, flowergirl and special occasion dresses. Accessories like your veils an tiaras, some jewelry, shoes and handbags. We also do tuxedo rentals.

Tips and Advice
- Bring pictures of what you like

- Bring a camera to take pictures of you in your favorite gowns

- Don't be surprised if you find yourself liking a dress that is not what your originaly thought you wanted. If you go with the dress you have been thinking you've wanted since the age of 5... you might look back at your wedding day pictures and think that it was taken in the 1980's! It's okay to like a dress that you never thought you'd like.

- Try on dresses that you think you're going to hate... you just might love them!

- No matter how much pressure you are getting from friends or family, go with what YOU want. Don't have any regrets!

- Never have a doubt about "The" dress. If you have a doubt, it's not it. Sometimes you may find the dress and not even know it. You will just find yourself going back to it over and over again. Then when you can't picture yourself in any other dress... you know you've found it!
