About
Photography is a true passion of mine and I would like to think it shows in my work. I've been a professional photographer for over 12 years now and thru those years I've done all types of work. From my last count I've shot well over 250 weddings and done countless numbers events, portraits, and commercial shoots.

Now that we are in the new digital era I've taken on a whole new perspective of my passion. I shoot now more than ever for my own personal satisfaction. This also is a benefit to my customers because I’ve doubled the number of photographs I take at any given job. This is a great benefit to my customers because it gives them a lot of choices.

Thanks,

Ben Reeder

Tips and Advice

People always ask my advice even if I'm not their photographer about what to ask or how to choose a wedding photographer. Well, here are some things to think about and my personal answers to the questions....

Experience Level -
Has this person photographed other weddings? Does he/she do this for a living or for fun? In this industry, photographers come and go daily. A brand new one may be pretty good, and everyone has to start somewhere, but do you want to trust your ”once in a lifetime” event to a newcomer?

I've personally have shot over 250 weddings and I still love what I do. I do other photography besides weddings but Wedding photography is my personal passion.

Photographic Style - Are the images that you are shown, what you would like to see? Can you picture yourself photographed the same way? Is there a satisfactory mix in different styles? There are "buzz" words flying about everywhere about photojournalism, formal, classic contemporary, and so on. All colorful adjectives aside; do YOU like it?

I consider my style to have an even balance between photojournalism and formal. The photojournalism style is very artistic and very popular but my formal side allows me to get the shots done quickly so the couple can enjoy their day.

Truth in Advertising - Is this the photographer that will be photographing your wedding or will they send in whoever is available. Don't be shocked, this happens more often than you can imagine. Be certain that you know which photographer is going to be there and see HIS/HER work and meet them.

I'm a one man show. What you see from me is what you get. I continue to improve every year so my work is only going to get better. Some studios book you and then on your wedding day some stranger shows up to shoot your weddings. Not me...I'm with you from start to finish.

Personality - Is the photographer that you meet someone that you can get along with? Is the "chemistry" there? People have walked away from hairstylists and tailors for less. This is a person that you are going to spend most of the day with; the most important day. Could you handle it? Does he or she seem service oriented?

Personality is what most people will say is my best attribute. I can make everyone feel comfortable almost instantly and I will make sure everything goes smoothly so that the couple can just enjoy their day.

Appearance - Ask the photographer how he/she intends to dress. The last thing that you want is a conflict at the wedding about the photographer wearing a sweatshirt and jeans with sneakers at your favorite country club. Is this person well groomed?

I've seen some poorly dressed photographers over the years and it always makes me cringe. Personally, I always wear a clean pressed dark suit and I won't take my jacket off even on the hottest days. I always look professional and clean shaven.

Price Range - Although, the last thing you want to do is shop by price, is this person within your budget? If not, is he or she worth the difference? A lot of times we tend to surpass our budget constraints to get what we really want. If you see and like it, you'll find a way. In any case, make sure you understand what everything costs, including reorders.

My package prices may vary but the final price is fixed and firm. You will never have any hidden costs or fees. AND you get a copy of every single image I take on DVD or CD for your keepsake. You can take the CD/DVD anywhere and get reprints made.

Delivery - How long does it take to get your proofs back, your finished album, your bridal portrait, etc.? Go ahead and ask. Some photographers take months to deliver your proofs. Be sure of how long things take to turn around.

You will have your printed proofs in your hands in now longer than two weeks...sometimes less.

Offering - Whether it's a la Carte or packages, do you understand what you get? Is there any room for changes and will it cost to do so? Sometimes the packages are fixed, sometimes they can be customized, in any case, ask. How much time will he spend? What if you need more time? Make sure that you know what's coming.

All my packaged can be customized at any point. My photography style does not change from the $1200 to $2500 packages. The only really differences in the packages are the "stuff" you get with it. The more you pay the more stuff you get...it's that simple. BUT you can save yourself a lot of money if you simple take the DVD and get the "stuff" made yourself.
