About
Artful Weddings by Sachs Photography

An award winning photographer, Joe Sachs has spent much of his career in New York working for Fortune 500 companies as a commercial and fashion-editorial photographer. The recipient of the New York Art Directors award and the Nikon/Photo District News award, Joe, and wife Anne, relocated to the Baltimore-DC area in 1995, where they now specialize in wedding, portrait and life-style photography. By combining the confidence that comes from years of handling major commercial shoots with the excitement of capturing the emotions and family connections, Joe and Anne create photographs that become family memories.

Through unobtrusive photojournalism and limited portraiture, the Sachs’ work closely with each bride and groom to create images that are distinctive and meaningful to them.

Joe and Anne’s work has been recognized and published by numerous publications including Elle, the Knot magazine, Baltimore Bride, Brides Maryland, Elegant Bride, Martha Stewart Weddings and Baltimore magazine.

What can I say. Working with Anne & Joe is a wonderful experience. They know their job well and enjoy it at the same time. Never a huff from either one! Their finished product is artful! Not just photos. ~Keith
Anne is wonderful to work with. Not only a very talented photographer, but fun and easy-going. She was also amazing at working with my toddlers! Thanks to her we have been able to preserve their youth and enthusiasm with the most amazing images of them, which our entire family treasures.
The first time I had the oppertunity to work with Artful Weddings was at the Cloisters Castle for a quaint Autumn Wedding. I was immediately impressed with Joe's style and calming personality. He was stealthy in the way he moved about capturing the ceremony and reception images without being drawing attention. I was even more impressed when I saw the way the images were formatted on-line. I would be delighted to work with Joe and the Artful Weddings team Again.

A Garden of Earthly Delights, artistic floral design studio
I have been working with Sachs Photography since I opened my business here in Baltimore 12 years ago. All I can say is- Wow!! I never cease to be amazed at the vision both Anne and Joe have, and their attention to detail is unparelleled. Since they both love flowers, you can be sure they will capture your bouquet and other floral details from your event with fervor and artistry! They are simply wonderful photographers and very awesome people, to boot! Call them, you will be so happy!

Tips and Advice
Suggestions to Make Your Day the Best

~Here are some tips to help ensure that you get the best possible images and that your day goes smoothly ~

  • Write a detailed schedule with your wedding professional. In addition to formal activities, be sure to include when everyone should be ready; when and where photos will begin; when you need to leave for the church, park, etc.

·        Plan to meet with us (your photographer) two to three weeks beforehand. This is a great opportunity to make sure that you have allocated enough time to get the shots that you want. Plan to bring a copy of the day’s schedule, a list for family group portraits and, if possible, a contact sheet for the principle professionals involved (wedding coordinator, caterer, musician, officiant, et. al.)

  • Make sure everyone in the bridal party (and families) knows when to be ready and where photos are to be shot. The rehearsal dinner can be a good place to remind them.

  • If no one objects, we recommend that the group portraits be taken before the ceremony. This then allows everyone to relax, celebrate and enjoy the reception.

  • The next best time to take group shots is immediately after the ceremony, when everyone should still be immediately at hand and distractions can be kept to a minimum.

  • Bring a small “emergency kit” of safety and straight pins, needle and thread (white, black and the colors of the bridesmaids’ and mothers’ dresses), aspirin and make-up bag with powder/blotting paper for faces.

  • Have a cooler with water and juice (clear colors, not red!) in your car, limo or trolley. A small snack can help, too, by staving off hunger pangs and headaches!
  •
