Frequently Asked Questions for Photography
What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Contemporary, Photojournalism, Portraiture, Traditional / Posed

What do your packages include?
Custom Graphic Design, Digital Files, High Resolution Images, Matted Prints, Proof CD of All Images

Do you have liability insurance?
No

Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
If it's soft filter you prefer--no problem; Sepia Toned photos float your boat? You've got it. Black and whites with color highlights? It's yours. I can re-produce pretty much anything digitally.

Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I have experience with all lighting situations including a bride and groom lit with only sparklers on the Fourth-of-July.

Is your media preference film or digital?
My training in art school and publishing was "old school," i.e. developing and printing film in the dark room. I still dabble with film in large and medium formats. But, the artistic possibilities with digital are limitless.

How many photographers do you work with?
I work primarily alone. However, if my client wedding or party has a guest list of 150 or more, I have an assistant that works with me.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
My presence is guaranteed. I take great pride in providing my clients with dependable, courteous, and professional service that they can count on.

Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
I have the benefit of being a small boutique company which means I can be selective in the events that I do. I'm not interested in bouncing back and forth between events and clients. I would never book myself for more than one event in a day. The more events a photographer shoots, the more work he will have, and ultimately the longer the client will have to wait for proofs and albums. The bottom line is I prefer to cover only two events per month.

Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
In an emergency situation I have a fellow photographer I can call. But, I'm young, healthy and have a lot of energy to burn off.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
My digital Nikon cameras are a must with strobes. Anything other than that depends on what artistically the couple wants.

Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Back-up equipment is essential if you want to be in business and stay in business.

Do you charge hourly or full day?
I charge by the session, or package. Eight hours of contiguous coverage is ideal for a wedding day which is my standard package. However, depending on the need I will do 2 hour, 4 hour, and 6 hour packages.

Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
I charge by the session, or package. However, sometimes couples request more hourly time, especially on the day of the wedding. Because I am a small boutique company I can give them that extra flexibility. My hourly face-time rate beyond any package is $150 per hour.

Do you charge for travel?
I work within a 30 mile radius of the Lyceum in Old Town, Alexandria. Any event outside that radius is charged the standard 50 cents per mile in addition to the set package rate. Traveling fees are negotiable for out-of-state venues.

How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
Because I only do a couple wedding per month, I am happy to have prints to the couple within 120-150 days. The turn around time for Wedding Albums and Hard Cover Picture Books varies as it usually takes couples time to figure out which photos they want to include in those items.

In what format are the initial proofs offered?
I not really into giving people squatty 4X4 unusable prints with "Proof" splashed across the face. My "proofs" are usable 4X 6 prints that can be framed the day they arrive at your home.

How long can the client keep the proofs?
The photos are yours. Yes, yours. The whole idea of charging for proofs and negatives, in my opinion is antiquated. Make sure to ask about this when you are shopping around as this course can save you several hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I do retain the copyrights to the images because I do use them for my advertising and marketing. However, my clients get complete photo reproduction rights as well as the digital files to do what they please. Want me to print your pictures? No problem. Want to take your CD's to Walmart and make t-shirts or posters for eight bucks? Do it...the images are of you and they should be yours.

Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
Digital files come with all set packages. Please contact me for my Price List which includes all of the details.

Will images be available for viewing online?
All images are available for viewing world-wide through the "Proof Viewing" portal on the Art.Fixx website. Proof viewing is pass-word protected.

What kind of albums do you offer?
Art.Fixx proudly teams with Tuscany Albums. Talk to me about the options.

When will the client get the final album?
Because I only do a couple wedding per month, I am happy to have prints to the couple within 120-150 days. The turn around time for Wedding Albums and Hard Cover Picture Books varies as it usually takes couples time to figure out which photos they want to include in those items.
